17th May 2022 / 10:00 am - 4:00 pm
Enjoy a full day’s printmaking workshop in the beautiful Suffolk countryside.
In this introduction to relief printmaking you will guided by artist and tutor, Glynis Porter, to create you own prints and greetings cards. Exploring linocut, this workshop will take you through developing your own design, cutting your image out of lino, and printing it.
The workshop will run from 10.00 am to 4.00 pm, with a break for a light lunch. All materials will be provided. You will receive your own full lino printing kit to use in the workshop and take home with you. Kits include everything you need: cutting tools, baren, roller, lino blocks, ink tray and water-based ink. You will also have use of a table-top press to print your work during the workshop. Cards and paper to print on will be provided for the session.
All you’ll need to bring is an apron and something to take your work home in. Suitable for beginners and those with some experience of printmaking who wish to develop their practice.
The workshop will be held in the grounds at Far From The Madding Crowd in the village of Leavenheath, CO6 4PU. We will be in touch nearer the time with the exact location and any further information. Tickets are non-refundable.
About the Teacher
After studying at St Martin’s School of Art, and gaining an MA at Brighton University, Glynis worked in illustration and design, and now, predominantly, as a printmaker. She has taught printmaking, papermaking, illustration and painting, and particularly enjoys producing prints through screen printing and linocuts.
Glynis and her family have been visiting the Suffolk coast for many years and finds it inspiring. She is currently producing cut-out cards focusing on her interest in 3-D paper sculptures, pop-ups and paperwork of all kinds. The cards begin as linocuts from images of the seaside or illustrations.
