Learn about seasonal pot planting with experienced gardener Gavin Edwards.
19th May 2022 / 9:30 am - 1:00 pm
The workshop will begin with Gavin walking you through how to pot up four seasonal summer pots and a hanging basket. He will show you how to create pots for various parts of the garden; very hot dry sunny positions; mostly sunny positions and shady locations and finally how to plant a hanging basket. Gavin will also talk to you about which herbs are best to pot up and how to look after them.
Finally Gavin will also talk to you about sourcing plants, watering, feeding and maintenance throughout the season. He will also give you ideas on how best to group pots together.
The workshop includes a pot, plants and compost to create your own pot to take home for a mostly sunny position. Tea/Coffee and cakes are also included.
Each participant should bring a pair of gloves, pen and paper to take notes.
The workshop will be held in the grounds at Far From The Madding Crowd in the village of Leavenheath, CO6 4PU. We will be in touch nearer the time with the exact location and any further information. Tickets are non-refundable.
Gavin started gardening as a hobby at 16. By 18 he was working professionally as an under gardener at the Church House, Tendring, which is a beautiful Percy Cane-designed formal four-acre garden. He then became the sole gardener running the whole garden. Gavin decided to leave the Church House a few years later to become self-employed. He has now been self-employed for 31 years and maintains mostly large country house gardens. He also works as a garden consultant and has designed gardens which include his own, which has been open to the public a number of times.
