Gavin Edwards started gardening as a hobby at 16. By 18 he was working professionallyas an under gardener at the Church House, Tendring, which is a beautiful Percy Cane-designed formal four-acre garden. He then became the sole gardener running the whole garden. Gavin decided to leave the Church House a few years later to become self-employed. He has now been self-employed for 31 years and maintains mostly large country house gardens. He also works as a garden consultant and has designed gardens which include his own, which has been open to the public a number of times.
